Brains On Universe Podcasts

Post Production Associate Producer
August 2023 - present

Within this role, I am responsible for the post production process for many episodes of the podcasts Brains On, Smash Boom Best, Forever Ago, and Moment of Um. I perform audio repair on both studio and Zoom quality audio using iZotope RX. I sound design creative storytelling moments, such as a machine that translates the music inside people’s brains (Brains On: What is ADHD?), the drama of a superhero’s origin story (Forever Ago: Superman) or the untold stories of the Wild West (Forever Ago: Yee-haw!) I also source all underscoring from a music library and cut it to appropriately score the sections. Finally, I mix and master dialogue, sound design, and music for final product.

Happy Birthday Angel Dearest

Sound Designer

It's Angel's 33rd birthday. It's time to celebrate, and everyone's joining the party: her family, her neighbor, even a time traveling pirate. The TalkGirl as a time traveling device was my entry point to this design. As the play investigated memory as nostalgia, trauma, repression, and imagination, I explored how the playback of tape could sonically change to represent the process of remembering.

My Reaper

Composer

My Reaper is an electroacoustic exploration of what can be composed from a 45-second recording of a poem. With all the layers taken from the original recording, it explores repetition, spatial sound design, and suspense. The cover art, poem, and performance all by Jack Magnus.

Picnic Basket Theatre

Associate Artistic Director and Sound Designer
May 2021 - present

Within this position, I lead production meetings, evaluate scripts, provide feedback, supervise the recording process (4-8 voice actors), and distribute the podcast episodes via Anchor. For each audio drama we produce, I repair audio with iZotope, splice together multiple takes, and apply EQ, compression, and noise gates. Additionally, I creatively sound design and compose underscoring to create an immersive storytelling experience.

The Table

Sound Designer

This work explores who is invited and who is denied access to “the table” of societal, political, familial, and global discussions. In order to add depth and specificity to a dialogue-sparse play, I collaborated with both the director and the ensemble to compose the underscoring for a 90 minute show as well as compile audio from interviews and broadcasts.
